High-speed automated canning line of the kind RYSE 3D supplies 3D printed grippers, guides and manifolds for
Overview

It usually starts with one awkward part

Every project designs in bespoke parts — guides, guards, grippers, manifolds — and the build timeline is tight. A line needs a custom bracket that doesn’t exist off the shelf. A gripper has to be tuned to one specific part. Different parts, same problem — it is bespoke to every project, and machining it is slow and expensive. That is the call we take every day.

RYSE 3D is a UK polymer additive manufacturer — FDM, SLS, SLA, MJF — that makes the part, finishes it, inspects it and ships it: one roof, one team you can hold to account. We become the named AM partner across your project pipeline — custom parts designed in and delivered fast — and from a garage in 2017 to a UK factory and two King’s Awards, we make the parts that drop into your builds.

Automation is project-driven — every build designs in bespoke parts, and the timeline rarely waits. That is where additive fits: grippers, guides, manifolds, fittings and tooling, designed in and delivered fast. We aim to be your named AM partner across the project pipeline, not a one-off supplier. Tell us what is on the next build, and we will set it up to run.

What you get

We’re not a print shop — we’re the production line for the bespoke parts every automation project designs in

Guides, guards, grippers, manifolds and line-side tooling. Two people usually sign this off, so here is what each of you walks away with.

For engineers

  • Functional line-side parts — nylon, carbon/glass-filled PA: the mechanical properties for real automation components. Not hobby plastic.
  • Tolerances you can sign off — ±0.3 mm up to 100 mm, then ±0.3 mm on the first 100 mm plus ±0.1% for every 100 mm beyond, inspected in-house.
  • Custom geometry, designed in — grippers, guides and manifolds tuned to the exact part and the exact line.
  • A straight answer on process — we tell you what fits, and what doesn’t.

For buyers

  • Parts on time, every time — 2.5m+ components in service, 1–3 day express when you need it.
  • One supplier, not five — print, finishing and inspection under one roof.
  • A programme you can defend — PPAP 1–4, ISO 9001, Cyber Essentials, full traceability, NDA-compliant.
  • Fast on tight timelines — custom parts in days to hit the build schedule, no tooling wait.

What we run

Tell us the part. We’ll tell you the process.

Nobody orders “an SLS part”. They order a part that has to do a job and perform. We run all four major processes, so your part goes on the one that performs, not the one machine we happen to own.

SLS · Selective Laser Sintering

Tooling-free functional nylon. Max build 165 × 165 × 300 mm, up to 500 × 500 × 750 mm for PA12-CF. PA12, PA12-GF, PA12-CF, PA11 (plant-based), TPU 90A. 1–3 days express, 5–7 days standard. A Formlabs Fuse X1 arrives December 2026, the first in the UK.

FDM · incl. large-format

Engineering-grade & large parts. Max build 500 × 500 × 900 mm (340 × 320 × 340 mm for PPA-CF). PA6-CF, PA12-CF, PA6/12-CF COPA, PA6-GF, PPA-CF, PET-CF, PC-FR, PETG-CF, ASA, ABS. Ideal for large, fibre-reinforced end-use parts, jigs, fixtures and tooling. 1–3 days express, 5–7 days standard.

SLA · Stereolithography

High-detail, rigid & flame-retardant. Max build 353 × 196 × 350 mm. Rigid 10K / High-Temp Ceramic-Filled, Tough 2000, Black PU Cast-Like, Flame-Retardant (UL94 V0), ESD, Clear, Flexible 80A. Best for high-detail masters, stiff ceramic-filled tooling and ESD-safe components. 1–3 days express, 5–7 days standard.

MJF · Multi Jet Fusion

Durable functional end-use. Max build 380 × 284 × 380 mm. PA12, PA11 Gen2, TPU 01 (Shore A 88–90). Finished vapour smoothed, bead blasted, vibratory polished. Lead time 5–7 working days, standard only — there is no express tier on MJF.

Mixed technology. One part, one assembly, one supplier — SLS, FDM, SLA and MJF, plus A-class paint, finishing and inspection on-site. Fewer vendors to manage, one team accountable for the result. Not sure which process? Upload the CAD and we will spec it for you, free at our instant quote tool.

Where we fit

When we run your parts, here’s where they land

Additive earns its place when every project designs in bespoke parts and the timeline is tight. For system integrators and special-purpose machine builders, that is most of the parts on the line.

Grippers & vacuum components

SLS / MJF. Custom grippers, vacuum cups and EOAT tuned to the exact part — lightweight, with consolidated internal air channels, on the line fast.

Manifolds & vacuum/air

SLS / MJF. Pneumatic manifolds and vacuum/air components printed as one piece — internal channels moulding and machining can’t reach, assembly designed out.

Guides, guards & brackets

FDM / SLS. Line-side guides, guards and custom brackets — large and inexpensive on FDM, durable functional nylon on SLS, made to fit the line.

Custom fittings & adaptors

SLS / MJF. One-off connectors, adaptors and fittings — made to fit, integrating into existing systems without a redesign.

Jigs & line-side tooling

FDM / MJF. Part-specific jigs, fixtures and assembly tooling — fast to make and easy to replicate across the line.

Housings & enclosures

MJF / SLS · ESD. Electronics and sensor housings — durable, accurate, with ESD-safe grades where static matters.

Right part, right process

Additive isn’t the right answer for every part, and we’ll always tell you so

The value is putting your budget where additive genuinely beats moulding: lower cost at your volumes, real design freedom, and parts in days instead of tooling lead-times. Where that line sits depends on the part — small parts stay ahead to high volumes; bigger or more complex parts suit additive up to around 10,000 a year, then moulding takes over. Automation parts — bespoke, low-volume, per-project — sit right in the additive sweet spot.

Where additive wins for you

  • ✓ Tooling can’t be justified for bespoke per-project parts — skip it entirely.
  • ✓ Custom geometry — grippers and manifolds tuned to the exact part and line.
  • ✓ Speed — custom parts in days to hit a tight build timeline.
  • ✓ One named AM partner across your whole project pipeline.
  • ✓ Consolidated internal channels — vacuum and air, no assembly.

Where we’ll tell you straight

  • ● Metal or high-load parts — we are polymer, so we will point you the right way for those.
  • ● Project work is lumpy — we are built for it, aiming to be your standing AM partner rather than chasing one-offs.
  • ● Need a specific certification? We hold ISO 9001, Cyber Essentials and PPAP 1–4 — tell us your standard and we will be straight on what we can meet.
  • ● Not sure where your part lands? Send us the CAD and we will tell you honestly — the right process, the real cost, and where we can save you money. No charge.
FAQ

Automation 3D printing FAQ

Can you print pneumatic manifolds with internal channels?
Yes, and it is one of the strongest arguments for additive in automation. A manifold prints as a single piece with internal vacuum and air channels routed in ways moulding and machining cannot reach, which designs the assembly out entirely — fewer joints, fewer leak paths, fewer parts to stock. We run these on SLS and MJF.
Can you make a gripper tuned to one specific part?
That is the normal job. With no tooling, a gripper customised to one part costs the same as a generic one, so there is no reason to compromise the geometry. Send the CAD of the gripper or of the part it has to pick, and we will spec the process and material.
How fast can you deliver custom automation parts?
Express lead time is 1–3 days on SLS, FDM and SLA, with 5–7 days standard. MJF runs 5–7 working days, standard only — there is no express tier on that process. That is the difference between a build timeline holding and slipping, and it is why integrators use us for the bespoke parts that get designed in late.
Can you be a named AM partner across our project pipeline?
Yes — that is how we prefer to work. Rather than quoting one-offs, we set up as your standing additive supplier across builds, so bespoke parts get specced and delivered as a matter of routine. Project work is lumpy by nature and we are built for it.
Can you make large line-side guards and guides?
Yes — up to 500 × 500 × 900 mm on industrial FDM, which is usually the most economical route for large guards, guides and covers. Where a part needs to be more durable and dimensionally tight, SLS nylon is the better call. Larger again, and we print in sections and bond.
Do you make ESD-safe housings for control electronics?
Yes — ESD-safe SLA for electronics and sensor housings where static is a risk, plus durable MJF and SLS nylon where it is not. Tell us the application and we will confirm the grade.
Can you replicate the same jig across a whole line?
Yes, and consistently. Once a part-specific jig or fixture is proven, repeats come off the same process to the same standard, and revisions can be reprinted in days when the line changes — no retooling and no minimum order.
How do I get an automation part quoted?
Upload your CAD to our instant quote tool for pricing from a single part up to 100,000, or contact us to set up as a standing supplier across your project pipeline. You can also request material samples before you commit to a spec.
